




​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Vasanta Vihar, headquarters of the Krishnamurti Foundation India, exists for the sole purpose of enabling people to stay here to study Krishnamurti’s Teachings by using the library (The Study) for reading, watching videos, or taking part in serious dialogues with those on the campus.

Therefore, we expect guests to stay for this purpose and not to use this place for engaging in other activities such as official/personal work , sight-seeing & shopping, yoga & meditation classes, lectures & seminars, music concerts & cultural events, family & social get-togethers.
​
Your presence on the campus, and punctuality for all meals, are expected ( If you stay before or after the retreat, going out is permitted only in the evening between 4:30pm and 7:00pm).

Mobile phones and other devices should not be used in The Study, Retreat venues, Dining Hall, and other common areas. You may use them only in your room, and that too only for essential work such as booking tickets or taxis.
RETREAT SPECIFICS
Two-day Residential Retreats are held regularly at Vasanta Vihar, Chennai — from fourth Friday till Sunday every month. ​

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE: The introductory programme is at 6 p.m. on Friday, so please check in between 2:00 pm and 5.30 pm. Departure between 2pm and 3pm on Sunday)
​
CONTENT: The two-day programme consists of video-screenings of Krishnamurti’s talks and discussions, formal dialogues, informal conversations, time for study and reflection. It formally will end by lunchtime on Sunday.
​
STAY: Participants especially those from outstation are welcome to stay a few days more, either before or after the Retreat, if they so wish.
​
RETREAT SIZE: The number of participants in the Retreats is restricted to about 25.
​
IMPORTANT: Kindly avoid last-minute cancellations and inform us at least 3 days in advance to enable us to accommodate others on our waiting list.
​
RETREAT FEE: INR 1900
​
This includes accommodation, food, and study material.
​
Payment can be made on arrival or anytime during the course of the retreat.
​
Payment for staying for more days, before or after the Retreat, will be Rs. 950 per day.

GUIDELINES FOR GUESTS
​
​​​1. Dress modestly. Clothes such as shorts, mini-skirts, or any revealing clothing outside your room are considered inappropriate.
​​
2. Use cell phones only in your rooms, and not in The Study, Retreat venues, Dining Hall, and other common areas on the campus.
​​​
3. Non-vegetarian food, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs are prohibited on campus. (Food/snacks from outside are prohibited)
​​
4. Be punctual for all our programmes and meals—do not keep the kitchen staff waiting.
​​
5. Do not leave lights, water heaters, and fans on when you are not using them.
​​
6. Lock your room, and do not leave your passport, cash, and other valuables lying around. Kindly be in your room by 10:00 PM; please avoid walking around the campus or engaging in conversations after this hour to ensure undisturbed rest for everyone.

7. Single/Double non-AC rooms with attached bath are provided.
Sometime you may have to share a room with another, depending on the total number of participants.
NOTE: Vasanta Vihar is open throughout the year those who interested in exploring J.Krishnamurti’s teachings.
